Manual Shotblasting
Most coating systems today require a high standard of surface cleanliness for successful long term coating protection of the steel. A high percentage of premature coating failure is due to poor surface preparation.
Our manual booth and automatic machine can blast clean to the following recognised industry standards.
Sa 2.5 (SSPC-SP10) - Near white metal, a very thorough blast clean)
Sa 3 (SSPC-SP5) - White metal, blast cleaned to visually clean steel
The manual bay is 4.1 metres wide, 4.1 metres in height and 15 metres long, and uses chilled iron Metabrasive G17 which is ideal for hot metal spraying both aluminium and zinc. The bay accommodates a trailer up to 45 feet with doors of 5 metres wide with two overhead 5 tonne cranes, giving a 10 tonne lift capacity.
The opening to our Automatic machine is 900mm wide by 900mm high, we can shot blast anything up to 19 metres in length.

Intumescent Paint
Intumescent protective coatings for steel give fire protection. They have been developed to protect structural steel in a fire situation.
The components in intumescent paint react to the intense heat of a fire and expand to many times the initial thickness applied producing a carbonadoes char.
The layer of char insulates the steel restricting its rise in temperature. When steel reaches 400°C it begins to lose strength and the rate of loss increases the hotter the steel gets.
Intumescent paints have been developed to provide up to 120 minutes fire protection for a building to allow for evacuation.
